The Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (MetroCOG)
Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan
The draft update to the Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Greater Bridgeport Region is available via https://bit.ly/draft-nhmp or https://ctmetro.org/regional-planning/environmental-planning/. The public is welcomed and encouraged to review and comment on the draft Plan through Friday, June 28th, 2024.
The MetroCOG Region is comprised of the City of Bridgeport and the Towns of Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is a tool that helps a community understand risks and take specific steps to reduce property damage, injury, and loss of life. This plan discusses the occurrence and consequences of floods, coastal changes, winter storms, tornadoes, hurricanes and tropical storms, earthquakes, dam failure, extreme temperatures, and drought. The plan identifies activities that communities can perform before natural hazards occur in order to minimize property damage, risk of life, and the costs that are shared by all. This update identified significant changes in risks, vulnerabilities, capabilities, and mitigation actions that have developed since adoption of the previous plan in 2019.
